It’s time to Look Back to Move Forward

It’s time!

Time to begin our fond farewell to another year behind us and acknowledge all that we have deliberately created and magically manifested this year.

Time to celebrate the lessons and blessings that have enriched the soulful fabric of our lives.

Time to look in the rear-view mirror to see where we’ve been in the past year so we can use it to deliberately drive and direct our lives forward into a meaningful new year.

We’ve been celebrating a season where the majority of our time has been focused on looking for ways to remember and acknowledge others. It’s the time of year when we constantly hear about the virtues of selflessness and are invited time and again to step out of ourselves and celebrate others. It’s a wonderful and worthy state of being … as long as we celebrate ourselves too!

Why? Because if we bypass opportunities to notice and celebrate the things we’ve personally experienced and accomplished during the past 12 months, we will be going into the new year living in the stale emotions of the past, telling the same story, getting the same results, and truly short changing ourselves and others we’re here to positively impact and influence.

NOW is the best time for positive self-reflection married to grateful acknowledgement; it leads to a stronger sense of confidence, self-worth, and authentic power that is attractive to others and to life itself. By acknowledging, declaring and celebrating what we appreciate about ourselves, we are energetically telling life what we are ready for more of.

It’s the Law of Attraction in action!

So look back to move forward! Use this powerful heart-based exercise designed to raise your happiness and success quotient for the year ahead. Lean into it and go the distance.

* List 5 things that you did this year that you’re proud to talk about. Celebrate!
* List 5 successes and wins in your personal and/or professional life. Celebrate!
* List 5 things that made you more compelling and interesting this year. Celebrate!
* List your favorite memory of the past year and this year’s greatest gift. Celebrate!
* List 5 powerful “Sha’s” that you commit to take in the next 12 months. Celebrate!
* Top it all off with a quote or picture that underscores the theme of this past year.
* Now give the past year meaning and the new year a direction! Write a personal statement that empowers you forward and starts with And so I’ve decided …

Life is about you, amazing you; your hopes, dreams and happiness. And it doesn’t just happen; you create it every step of the way with your thoughts, emotions, focus and actions built on a foundation of awareness, appreciation and celebration.

Be bold. Be evolutionary. Take a good close look at yourself – you’ll find some very compelling things to celebrate and build a dynamic 2015 on!

  • Great article, Nancy! I like how you speak to looking back to move forward! And, I’m so with you on how we “create” and design our lives as we move forward.
But, before doing that, we need to have closure with the current year we are leaving….so we can step into our new year with that celebratory energy as we create, design and move forward with as you said “boldness” and from a place of “re-newal.”

I am putting aside time in the next day to simply focus on celebrating my accomplishments and creating my new year.
I will incorporate your suggestions in this “practice” as well.

    Thank you for your wisdom!
Happy New Year and wonderful creating to you, too!
